Jack Benny

Listen to Show | how to listen

Benjamin Kubelsky was born in Chicago in 1894. He entered the vaudeville scene at the tender age of 17, and went on to become the star of Earl Carroll's Vanities (1931).

He was a regular star of radio, television and movies, was known most for his permanent age of 39, as well as his dismally funny violin playing. As a guest of a local New York radio show, Jack made his radio debut (and his reputation) with the words: "This is Jack Benny talking. There will be a slight pause while you say 'Who Cares?'"
